Deck Cleaning Chicago

You have landed on the deck cleaning Chicago page. On this page we are obviously going to be speaking about deck cleaning and refinishing. On one hand, there are many different types of wood we clean.

For instance, Ipe, Cedar, Redwood, Untreated Pine, Treated Pine, Etc. Even composite decking and vinyl decking can be cleaned with great results. On the other hand, there are really only a couple things to do in order to properly clean a deck.

However, as simple as this sounds wood is very delicate. There is a soft pulpy material in between the grains that can be damaged by using too much pressure or using the wrong process.

Believe me when I say I have seen my fair share of wood decking that has been ruined by too much pressure or the wrong procedure.

The first example would be a deck that has no stain or water proofer on the surface. Whether it has worn off or was never on the deck to begin with does not matter. This would just need to be cleaned. We will explain our cleaning process a little later on in this page.

The second example, would be a deck that still has stain on the surface. Whether it be failing or the just the wrong color. In fact, we can remove the stain/paint from the surface of the deck. Honestly we can clean or strip stain/paint from any exterior wood surface.

Our Damage Free Deck Cleaning Process

First of all, we start all deck cleaning jobs by applying a specialty soap that helps loosen the dirt, mold, mildew, and weathering free from the wood. Second, using a low-pressure soft wash. We gently power wash the deck. Ensuring no damage to the wood. After all sides of each piece of visible wood are cleaned (except the underneath side, unless otherwise discussed). We then rinse all wood cleaned and the surrounding areas.

If your deck has a stain or paint on its surface the process is a little different. Note: This process can be harsher to the surface of your wood. However, in some cases, there is no alternative. In order to strip your deck of stain or paint. First, we apply a stain stripper to the surface. This helps loosen the stain or paint free from the wood. Secondly, we use our steam pressure washer set at a high temperature. This helps melt the stain/paint free from the surface. Finally, we rinse the surface and the surrounding area.
